Biography

Paul Abi Rached is a Lebanese environmental educator born in Baabda, Lebanon on May 13, 1968.

He promotes environmental education through songs that contain powerful messages to encourage healthy nutrition, proper waste disposal, paper recycling, reforestation and protection of endangered species among Lebanon’s youth.

 

Since 2002 Paul is the founder, president and director of T.E.R.R.E. Liban, an independent Lebanese non-governmental organisation that works since 1995 on several environmental education projects and has been a leader in the promotion of environmental solutions for sustainable development. In 2002, the organisation has been officially registered under the decree-law 106/AD.

Francois, Paul’s older brother taught him how to play the guitar and since then he started his music career as an environmental singer.
Besides his extreme devotion towards the environment and preserving biodiversity and nature conservation through songs, Paul developed his academic career and got a law license at the Lebanese University in 1991.
Paul spent 7 years at the Red Cross – first aid team until 2002 and 20 years of scouting until 2005.
Since May 2004 Paul is member in Baabda – Louaizy municipality council.
On august 2006 he got married from Nada Fayyad and has one son and one daughter : Francesco and Clara.

2003     Training on the study of migrating birds with SPNL – Bird Life.

2002     Training on strategic planning – Lebanese Union of Environmental NGOs.

Training on square foot gardening with the French Cultural Center.

1996     Workshop on ecotourism with René Moonward Foundation.

1994     Workshop on Civic Education with the Lebanese Center for law studies.

Training of trainers on environmental education organized by LINE.

Training with “Centre Culturel Français” and the Ministry of Lebanon on environmental educational in schools.

Workshop on children’s mental health with the faculty of Beirut University.

Training with the “Centre Culturel Français” on active education through school libraries in Lebanon.

1990     Training with UNICEF on Peace Education project.

1986     Lebanese Red Cross certificate.
